Who this applies to

This policy covers https://modernselfjournal.com, operated as an independent editorial publication. It applies to every visitor, regardless of location.

What we collect

• Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless, privacy-friendly analytics service that does not track individual visitors across sites and does not use persistent identifiers. It only runs after you accept our consent banner.
• Contact and correction forms. If you email us or use a contact form, we collect whatever you choose to include — typically your email address and message — solely to respond to you.
• Newsletter signup. If you subscribe, we collect your email address to send the newsletter and nothing else. See our Newsletter page for how signup works.
• Advertising (not yet active). If display advertising is enabled in the future, our ad partner may use cookies or similar technology to serve relevant ads — only after you've given consent through our consent banner, and using a certified consent-management platform for visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland.

What we don't do

We don't sell personal data. We don't build cross-site advertising profiles ourselves. We don't require an account or login to read the site. We don't place tracking pixels beyond the analytics and (future, consented) advertising described above.

Data minimisation and retention

We keep contact-form and correction emails only as long as needed to resolve the matter and maintain a reasonable record, and newsletter addresses only for as long as you stay subscribed. Analytics data is aggregate and does not identify individual visitors.

Third parties

We use Cloudflare (hosting and analytics) and, if you subscribe, an email delivery provider for the newsletter. We don't share your data with any other third party except where required by law.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the "last updated" date above and, for significant changes, note it on the homepage.
