Modern Self Journal is a psychology-informed personal-development publication. It is not a medical provider, a mental-health clinic, or a substitute for professional diagnosis, treatment, or therapy.
What our content is
Articles about psychology, emotional regulation, habits, or wellbeing draw on published research and general concepts, written for education and reflection. They describe patterns that some people experience, using language like "may," "can," or "is associated with" rather than definitive claims.
What our content is not
Nothing on this site should be used to diagnose yourself or anyone else with a mental-health condition, decide to start, stop, or change a medication, or replace an assessment or treatment plan from a qualified clinician. We do not publish quizzes that claim to detect depression, ADHD, autism, personality disorders, trauma, or similar conditions — those require professional assessment, not a website.
If you're in crisis
If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please contact emergency services in your country, or a crisis line where you are. In the United States, you can call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). In the United Kingdom and Ireland, Samaritans can be reached at 116 123. In India, the Government of India's mental health rehabilitation helpline KIRAN is available at 1800-599-0019. These are provided as a starting point, not an exhaustive or verified-current list — please also search for the current crisis resource in your own country if these numbers don't apply to you.
Talk to a professional
If something you read here resonates strongly, or you're dealing with a difficult emotional period, that's a good reason to talk to a licensed therapist, counsellor, or doctor — not a reason to rely on a website instead.
